Spreading water science from Lake Biwa to the world. The Center for Biodiversity Science, based at the Seta Campus of Ryukoku University (Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture), is a research center that proposes new ecological survey methods based on environmental DNA analysis thereby promotes social contributions.
The biological information contained in a glass of water will facilitate the creation of an ecological information society. Environmental DNA analysis, a research method promoted by the Center, enables us to conduct ecological surveys of rivers, ponds, and oceans without capturing any organisms.
Researchers belonging to the center have been continuously publishing scientific articles relating to biodiversity science and also contributing to the promotion of science by reviewing and editing scientific articles.
The Center for Biodiversity Science has 19 researchers, including 10 universities and research institutes.
