■About the Logo Mark

<The Meaning Behind the Logo>
The upper object, wrapped in a strand of DNA, takes on an abstract form that resembles a droplet of water, a young fish, or even a soul—evoking images of nature and life. Its ambiguous shape is meant to spark curiosity, making viewers wonder, “What could it be?”
The lower part of the design depicts leaves (symbolizing nature) and hands (representing people, companies, and society), suggesting that nature is upheld and supported by human involvement.
The flowing connection between the upper and lower elements represents “circulation, harmony, and society.” It illustrates the concept of mutual support—the very essence of a nature-positive approach. Furthermore, the shape of the lower object incorporates elements of the Ryukoku University logo, creating a sense of unity and continuity with the institution’s identity.
Moving forward, the Center for Biodiversity Science will continue to lead research efforts using advanced environmental monitoring technologies—such as environmental DNA analysis—to visualize biodiversity data. We aim to create incentives for local governments and businesses based on this information, and to build a sustainable system in which people and funding flow continuously into conservation efforts.
